About Me
I started sewing when I was 8 years old. I vividly remember that the first
thing I ever made was a skirt for my mom, that the neighbor kid bled all
over and ruined. But I felt such a feeling of accomplishment when I did it
and that was the moment that I caught the bug. We( my sister and I)
learned to sew as a matter of necessity. We didn't have a lot of money so
buying expensive name brand clothes wasn't possible.
As I got older, one my favorite things to do was to go to the really
expensive stores in town (we are talking the places that I couldn't afford
to breathe the air, let alone buy the clothes) and find stuff that I liked and
knock it off. My outfit usually cost a fraction of the price and was 10
times better, both in looks and construction quality. But for years sewing
and designing stayed a hobby.
I started this business in 2005 in Phoenix, Arizona, and when I did I
decided that I need to get some more formal education if I was going to
accept people's money for my work. I received an associates degree in
Fashion Design in 2006 and I still pursue my education as new skills and
trends demand.
I recently moved the company to Virginia Beach, Virginia. My husband is
in the military and was transferred to a command there. Since moving I
have met with much success and been welcomed into the community of
wedding providers. I network with some great people in the area and am
eternally grateful for the advice and guidance.
The reason I decided to work for myself was simple. I'm the mother of a
little boy with a developmental disability. So because of this I decided to
stay home and make myself happy by doing what I love for a living as well
as providing the care he requires. My husband has been wonderful in
building me a space in our home to work in a professional manner and be
available for my family as well.
I truly live by the following motto;
"Do what you love and you'll never work another day in your life"
